Meet the Staff of Grace Lutheran Church
I am an old, new pastor, ordained at Grace in October of 2013 following a 17 year career as a Naval Officer and 18 years as a flight test engineer. I am happily married to Susan since 1978. They have two grown married children, a daughter, and a son. One of my favorite Bible verses is Micah 6:8, “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” I especially like the “walk humbly with your God” part.
Youth & Family Ministry Director
I am from beautiful northern Arizona and moved to Ridgecrest with my husband, Michael in 2014. We both have a spirit for outdoor adventure and passion to disciple youth. At Grace I work with middle school, high school, young adults, and families. In December of 2016 Michael and I adopted a 6 week old baby boy. Baby Dakota is loved deeply and is the youth group’s little mascot. One of my favorite Bible passages is Philippians 4:4-7 which encourages to trust and not worry.
Worship & Music Ministry Director
I have been a resident of Ridgecrest since 1980 when my husband Terry took a job at China Lake Naval Base. We are very blessed to have two grown daughters, a son-in-law, and two grandsons as part of our church family here at Grace. I never realized when I was working on a degree in music education that God had plans for me in church choirs and worship planning. It has become my life’s work, and I love being able to help people praise and bless the Lord with music and in song, with handbells and instruments and voices! A favorite Bible passage is Jeremiah 29:11-13, “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart.”
My family and I moved to Ridgecrest in 2007. We started attending Grace in 2009 after my mother in law came to visit us and attended a Christmas service. She talked about how she loved the service so we gave it a try and we have been attending Grace ever since. One day I attended a Women’s Bible Study, this was my first bible study. The office manager at that time asked me if I was interested in working in the office here at Grace. I went home and prayed about it and then I accepted God’s call for me to join the staff here at Grace. John 3:16 is my favorite Bible verse.
